About the Carr, Carr, Belknap and Pollard Company

William M. Carr & Company was founded in Bradford, New Hampshire in 1824 by William A. and Daniel Carr, purveyors of general merchandise. William M. Carr & Co. touted a full line of “Dry and fancy goods, groceries, grain, furniture, carpets, curtains, crockery, glass and silverware, wallpaper, boots, shoes and general merchandise.” The company supplied all manner of goods to south central New Hampshire for over one hundred years.

About the Carr, Carr, Belknap and Pollard Receipts

The Carr, Carr, Belknap and Pollard collection is an archive of invoices and receipts directed to William M. Carr & Co. during 45 years that the company served the surrounding areas of Sullivan and Merrimack Counties (1880-1925). There are over 500 documents, nearly all on interesting or colorful corporate letterheads, from turn-of-the-century New England.

This documentary collection details not only what merchandise William Carr & Co. was ordering, but the prices paid for these goods. Also included in this collection are some receipts to and from H.W. Belknap and the Pollard Brothers.
