About Roger Brown

In 1990, Roger S. Brown, Associate Professor of German, filed a civil rights lawsuit against the state university system complaining that his constitutional right of free speech and due process were violated when Nancy Lukens, the department chairman, factored into her evaluation and salary recommendations student allegations that he made racial and sexist slurs, was unfair in testing and grading and showed a general disrespect for students. After five years, Brown changed lawyers and his suit was finally settled out-of-court.

This series contains the complaint, depositions, and decision for the case of Brown v. UNH et al. also included is a newspaper clipping and some supporting materials.
