About the Whittemore School of Business and Economics

In 1962, the department of economics and business administration in the College of Liberal Arts was made into a separate school. Named after long-term board member Lawrence F. Whittemore, the Whittemore School of Business and Economics was commonly known as WSBE.

About the dedication certificates

This folder contains four certificates of greeting and felicitations sent to the University from other institutions on the occasion of the dedication of the new school. The insitutions are: Vassar College signed by President Sarah Gibson Banding, March 28, 1963; University of Rhode Island signed by President Francis H. Horn, March 14, 1963; Tufts University signed by President Nils Yngve Wessell, March 1, 1963 and Columbia University (written in Latin) signed by Praeses Grayson Kirk.
