About Richard T. Rogers

Richard T. Rogers (1818-1890) was a farmer and local politician from Rochester, Strafford Co., NH. He married Olive M. Page (1829-1900). He served on several town committees, including school board, highway committee, overseer of the poorhouse, and tax assessor. A possible relative (nephew?) named Victor E. Page also served as highway tax collector around 1890.

About the Richard Rogers Account Book Collection

The Richard T. Rogers Account Book Collection consists of 21 volumes dated 1848-1890. They include school board, highway board, poorhouse overseer, and tax assessor activities. The inventories consist of names of tax payers with assessments of their real estate, livestock, carriages, personal properties, polls, and religious affiliations. Some accounts are more related to Rogers’ personal wood and labor accounts with his neighbors, as well as his time spent working on various town committees. Misc. accounts detail bounty monies paid for crows, number of individuals “saved for Jesus”, and fabric production tallies.
