About John W. Hurd
John W. Hurd (ca. 1837- between 1900 & 1910) was a farmer from Rochester, N.H. He married Ann A. Varney, and was a colonial in the 15th New Hampshire Infantry. If this ledger was his, he also ran a tavern in the town of Rochester, although he is not listed in the Rochester history of 1892 nor is his tavern mentioned in the section on taverns.
About the Ledger
The ledger records accounts for a number of residents [of Rochester, New Hampshire?] between 1837 and 1861. There is a "Memorandum of Names" at the back of the ledger.
