About Commuter/Transfer Center
The Commuter/Transfer Center, formerly called Off-Campus Housing, opened in 1979. Its purpose was to provide a wider range of support and services for the transfer and commuter students at UNH. Located in the Memorial Union Building, the center provided information on how to find off campus housing apartments, dealing with landlords or roommates, and the rights of a tenant. It also helped ease transfer students into the university community. The center also provided a lounge area for relaxing, eating, socializing, and studying.
The Non-Traditional Student Organization (NTSO) consists of students older than 24 or are financially independent, a veteran, caregiver, or had a break between the times of their education. The purpose of the organization is to provide these students with support and encouragement to participate on campus.
About the Commuter/Transfer Center Files
This collection includes various files relating to commuter affairs, community and student relations, commuter student profiles and reports, as well as the goals and objectives for the Commuter Transfer Center. It also contains information pertaining to Mediation services and the Mediation Project, the Landlord Tenant Council, and Off-Campus housing program services. There is also some correspondence and newsletters for the Nontraditional Student Center. Various workshop information and event fliers are also included as well as a few photos.
