Engineering, Physics, and Chemistry Branch Libraries

The College of Engineering and Physical Sciences Branch Libraries are used primarily for research in the fields of Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science. Students employed here are responsible for a variety of duties, including: shelving, checking books out or in, shelf reading, shifting, general upkeep of the libraries, special projects, inter-library courier service, reference work, and some basic office functions (such as: word processing and answering phones).

After a two-week (paid) training period, each student is expected to work approximately 10-12 hours per week (your work schedule will remain the same each week). Students are also expected to work during the reading days, and, during finals week. Opportunities to substitute or exchange shifts with other students will arise, as well as the opportunity to work over the semester breaks, including the summer session. Substitution procedures will be covered during the training. The majority of student work shifts will fall between 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday through Friday, along with other shifts possible from 5 PM - 10 or 11 PM during the week. There are also afternoon/evening hours to cover on the weekends during the semester.
