     1.   Ipswich, Mass. Whipple House, 1640. Surface formed
           against rived laths which were nailed to under side of
           2nd floor boards.  Laths f.16 inches by l foot. Total
           thickness of laths and plaster f.16 inch.  Plaster was
           between the small beams which show up and down saw marks.
           In the hall, the ceiling was probably a later addition.
