About Edmund Toppan

Edmund Toppan (1777-1849), son of Colonel Christopher Toppan of Portsmouth, graduated from Harvard College in 1796. He practiced law in Deerfield, N.H. before moving to Hampton, N.H. In addition to his legal work, Toppan served as a New Hampshire state representative for fourteen years and as postmaster for Hampton for about twelve years.

About the Edmund Toppan Account Book

Manuscript record book kept by Edmund Toppan, of Hampton, New Hampshire, between 1825 and 1840. Included are his legal accounts, as well as records of the Hampton Post Office. A list of newspapers received by the post office from January 1841 to April 1, 1841, is laid in.
