Merchant, Chester, N.H.
About the William Tenney Ledger
The ledger reveals that Tenney sold all kinds of farm produce and kept a variety of livestock, including oxen that he hired out for plowing and hauling timber. He frequently hired out a horse for trips to neighboring towns such as Haverhill, MA., and he did a big business in cord wood, cider, apples, and apple trees. He also tutored young boys. Among the most prominent names in the ledger are Chase, French, Green, Grover, Hale, Haseltine, Hoit, Hunkins, Ingals, Kenney, Melvin, Merrill, Niles, Osgood, Pressey, Randall, Rogers, Stevens, Tenney, and Tewksbury.
The CD-ROM, an electronic image reproduction of the ledger, was originally published by Heritage Books in Bowie, Maryland in 2000.
