Resident of West Lebanon, Maine. A former doctor who studied at Dartmouth College, Jones was admitted to the York county bar and practiced law until he was 90 years old. He served as a state senator for York county in the Maine legislature in 1857-1858, and later became town treasurer, superintendent of the schools, and a member of the board of selectmen in West Lebanon. He was the town’s oldest resident at the time of his death.
72 page transcript of an account of a trip Jones made to the west from May 13 to June 10, 1850, entitled “Journal of a tour to the West in 1850.” Also typed carbon copies of an article about Jones written for “The Globe” in 1899 shortly before his death and of his obituary.
