About John Kimball

John Kimball was born in Wenham, Massachusetts in 1767. He was trained as a shoemaker, but later became a prosperous farmer and peddler in Wilton, New Hampshire. Kimball travelled to New Ipswich, Lowell and Milford, Massachusetts to sell produce, oxen and meat, and to haul stone, wood, and lumber.

Manuscript diary and account book (1835-1841) of John Kimball of Wilton, New Hampshire. Includes records of daily tasks and business transactions, including items purchased, together with names and prices paid for such, as well as his son’s expenses at Milford Academy.
