About James Duane Squires:

James Duane Squires (1904-1981) was born and educated in North Dakota. In 1933, he received a Ph.D. in European History from Harvard University and he subsequently taught at Colby-Sawyer College, where he later chaired the Department of Social Studies for many years. His published works include books on British propaganda and New Hampshire history, notably the four-volume The Granite State: A History of New Hampshire. Squires served as a delegate to the 1952, 1954 and 1964 Republican National Conventions.

Additional material relating to the Republican platform is included in the 1964 Convention material, since Squires was a member of the platform committee that year.
