About John Adams Harper
John Adams Harper, born in Deerfield, N.H. on November 7, 1779, became postmaster of Sanbornton, N.H. at age twenty-one, then practised law in Meredith Bridge (later Laconia). He served in the New Hampshire legislature and, in 1811, was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. He died in 1816 at the age of thirty-six.
About the John Adams Harper Account Book
This bound account book contains the accounts of John A. Harper and William Burleigh (1810-1813). In addition, it contains court dockets of the New Hampshire Circuit Court of Common Pleas (August 1813-August 1816). The remainder of the volume contains the accounts of John T. Coffin, a Meredith, N.H. notary public (1846-1855). Some receipts are laid in.
