The UNH Library Toolbar is available for both Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Click here to install the Firefox version
If Firefox displays a message indicating it prevented the site from installing software on your computer, press the button labelled "Edit Options..." and click "Allow" to add to the list of websites from which extensions may be installed. Then click "Close" and click the installation link again.
The Firefox version will update automatically when a new version is released.
The Internet Explorer version requires Microsoft .NET 2.0, which must be installed first.
Click here to download Microsoft .NET 2.0 (install this first!)If you have the Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer installed, it will block pop-up windows generated by the UNH Library Toolbar. If this occurs, hold down Ctrl when clicking to search.
The toolbar allows you to search the library catalog or selected databases directly from your browser rather than having to navigate to each individual search form.
To search, select the catalog or database from the menu to the right of the search box and the field to search from the menu to the left. Then input your search term and click the Search button. Multiple terms may be added using the "Create New Search Field" button, a blue down arrow directly to the right of the search box.
The toolbar also allows you to highlight titles, authors, or keywords from any webpage, right-click, and search them in the library catalog or Google Scholar.
The toolbar provides embedded "cues," an icon of Thompson Hall, within the pages of selected search engines and book-related sites like Google.com or Amazon.com. The cues link to a search in the UNH Library catalog for the ISBN of the title for which you were searching.
A book title can have different ISBNs for the paperback, hardcover, or a subsequent edition. xISBN is a service provided by Worldcat.org which generates a list of ISBNs of related titles with links to the UNH Library catalog. With this, you can find a book and see if the library has it under a different ISBN.
To search an ISBN, select the number, right-click, and choose "Search UNH Library Catalog for ISBNs related to ..."
Also, the toolbar will automatically turn many ISBNs, ISSNs, DOI IDs, and PubMed IDs found on any webpage into a link to a search for that ISBN in the UNH Library catalog.
The UNH Library Toolbar enables you to select a bibliographic citation, drag, and drop it into the toolbar on the diploma icon for Google Scholar. This will perform a search for the citation in Google Scholar and open its best guess for the article in our link resolver, "Find it @ UNH." In addition, the toolbar also allows you to select DOI IDs or PubMed IDs, right-click, and search them using "Find It @ UNH."
Databases searched through the toolbar should automatically use the library proxy server to provide off-campus access.
The toolbar also allows you to reload any page using the library proxy for off-campus access. To do this, right-click and select "Reload ... via UNH Off-campus Access."
By using this extension you may send the URL of the pages you are currently visiting to the library's catalog server. Such information is sent only if you are actively using the toolbar; it is never sent automatically.
