As Halloween is coming up, here’s some often overlooked gems of the horror genre in our collection that may help put you in that holiday spirit:

If Halloween isn’t your thing, here are the DVDs with the highest circulation during last year:

UNH Manchester DVDs with the highest circulation during last year. (Please keep in mind that both Durham and Manchester patrons can request movies from either the Durham or Manchester libraries and pick them up at their home library):

But wait, we left out the Film Underground movies that are part of our collection but are shelved separately. The Film Underground is a student group at UNH Durham. They were awarded two Parent’s Grants to purchase films for the Library (the Library matched these grants). They selected a wide array of films, ranging from esoteric art movies, cult classics, children’s movies, to a few movies that are just enjoyably odd and obscure.

Hopefully, these lists will remind you that you’re sharing these resources with many others in the UNH community. So please take care to be considerate of our materials. If we’re lucky, we can replace damaged materials. Even then, it often takes considerable time and effort before another patron can use the material.

The UNH Parents Association has generously awarded funds for two projects in the library.

The first supports the purchase of new laptop computers and cases for the library. Laptops are available for patron use and can be checked out from the Reserve Desk, located on Level 3 in Dimond Library.

Also, the Parents Association has again awarded $2,500 to the Film Underground to add a selection of DVDs to our multimedia collection. These DVDs will be available to patrons and also used for Film Underground film screenings.

The UNH Film Underground is a student-run organization which sponsors showings of rare, classic, foreign, and independent films on the big screen. Showings are followed by an open forum of discussion and analysis. In 2006, the Film Underground formed a partnership with the Collection Development department of the UNH Library.
