We are pleased to announce a new trial database, Counseling and Therapy in Video. This trial contains more than 400 hours of training videos, reenactments, and footage of actual therapy sessions conducted by renowned counselors, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers. This classic collection of videos filmed from 1985‒2010 provides an invaluable firsthand look at the realities of working with clients and the challenges associated with putting theoretical concepts into practice.

If this database is useful to you, please contact our Collection Management Librarian, Jen Carroll, or comment here.

We are pleased to announce that we are trialing an app called BrowZine for the next few weeks that allows you to look at our online journal subscriptions on tablets. The service allows users to look at 2005-present Tables of Contents and PDFs of all articles from all issues. It also allows users to download PDFs to their tablets so they can read later if they don't have a connection. For more information, look at a list of who is covered.

To learn more, please take a look at this short two minute video.

For the trial, search for "BrowZine" in the Apple iTunes App Store and download the app for free; when initially launching BrowZine, select our school from the drop down list.

This trial is a bit different than usual so if you have any questions, need any help trying it out, or find this database is useful for you, please contact our Collection Management Librarian, Jen Carroll.

The University Museum in Dimond Library announces its second campus-wide staff arts and fine crafts exhibition, September 13 – December 13, 2013. The exhibit will recognize our creative colleagues for work they do outside their day (or night) jobs at UNH. Original art and fine crafts in any media will be considered.

Eligible staff include all faculty (see exception) and staff, full and part-time, hourly and benefits eligible. The exception is studio arts faculty who have opportunities to exhibit their work in the UNH Museum of Art.

The small size of the University Museum restricts the number of works that can be exhibited. An anonymous jury will make selections using the blind jury process (applicants' names will be removed from the forms for the jury process). For those artists selected for participation, not more than one work will be included in the exhibition.

Applicants may submit up to two entries, must complete the Call for Entry form, and send a photo image of each entry to dale.valena@unh.edu.

All entry forms with photos must be received no later than the deadline of July 29, 2013. If you prefer, you can mail your form and photo to the University Museum, Dimond Library, 18 Library Way, Durham, NH 03824 by the July 29 deadline.

Thanks for your entry and good luck!

UNH Special Collections and the University Museum present a hallway exhibit of the work of Herbert Odgen Waters. The exhibit includes seven prints from Special Collections and examples of the artist’s wood blocks, a loan from the UNH Museum of Art.

Herbert Ogden Waters was born in Shantou, China in 1903 and was the son of Baptist missionaries. Since 1933, except for a brief period of war service in a Providence shipyard, Herbert and his wife Bertha Waters made their home in New Hampshire. Waters lived in Warner, NH as an artist and art teacher from 1936 to 1941 in the Works Progress Administration's Federal Art Project. Later, he taught at the University of New Hampshire, at Holderness School in Plymouth, and at Alderson-Broaddus College in Phillipi, West Virginia.

Throughout a long career, Waters refined his printmaking techniques, especially in wood engraving, and explored the intimate and grand landscapes of New Hampshire from his home in Campton, NH.

The Herbert Ogden Waters exhibit will run through the summer.

Milne Special Collections/Archives/ University Museum is open Monday through Friday from 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm during the summer. They are located on Level 1 in Dimond Library. For information call (603) 862-1081.
