The New Hampshire Humanities Council has awarded the University of New Hampshire Library, Friends of the UNH Library and New Hampshire Public Television a grant to produce and videotape a live presentation of the New Hampshire Authors series. The program will take place in April, 2009.

The grant will fund the DVD production, web streaming and an online educational resource for the program. This program will feature renowned poet Marie Harris interviewed by award-winning author Rebecca Rule. Harris was New Hampshire Poet Laureate from 1999 to 2004.

The program will be held at Dimond Library.

Many thanks to Diane Tebbetts and Tracey Lauder for preparing the winning grant proposal.

UNH is a member of an organization called Campus Compact for New Hampshire, one of about 35 compacts throughout the country.

This year they selected Bill Ross, Head of Special Collections and Archives, to receive their Presidents’ Good Steward Award to recognize his “efforts to bring [his] classroom to the community and provide students with the type of experience that will remain with them for their lives.”

The award goes to a member of the faculty, administration or staff who has contributed his or her professional expertise in service to the wider community and who has significantly advanced public service on their campus.

Congratulations, Bill!
