The Cookie Break and other events on Reading Day yesterday went smashingly well! Thanks to everyone in the library who made the event possible.

Bill Ross, head of Special Collections and Archives, has posted some photos. Rachel Gogan at the Biological Sciences library has also shared some photos.

If you have more photos or feedback to share, just post a comment below.

And remember that there are more events the rest of the week to provide some stress relief. Good luck with finals!

Join us for a week of stress relieving activities, a series we’re calling Frenzy-Free Finals:

Monday, December 14 (Reading Day)

Chair Massages: 1pm-3pm
Enjoy a free 5-minute chair massage from a licensed therapist, Sarah Low from My Liege Salon and Metrospa in Dover, in the Level 1 elevator alcove in Dimond Library. Spots are limited, so sign up at 12:45pm.

Cookie Break: 2pm
Join us in Dimond Library on the Level 4 mezzanine and all the branch libraries to enjoy a study break with home-baked cookies and coffee. Home-baked goodies by Library faculty and staff and the Parent’s Association. Free coffee provided by Zeke’s Cafe.

Primal Scream: 10pm
Here’s your chance to scream in a library. Ease some tension with a one-minute primal scream on the Level 3 (Main Level) lobby in Dimond Library.

Tuesday, December 15

Yo-Nola Bar: 2pm-4pm
Some foods are natural stress relievers—like nuts and low-fat dairy. Join us for a stress-busting snack of GrandyOats Organic Granola and Stonyfield Farms Organic Yogurt on the Level 4 mezzanine in Dimond Library.

Wednesday, December 16

Guided Meditation: 2pm, 2:30pm, 3pm, and 3:30pm
Quiet your mind, body, and spirit with a 15-minute guided meditation session offered by Health Services in the Faculty Lounge on Level 5 in Dimond Library.

Thursday, December 17

Yoga Stretching: 2pm, 2:30pm, 3pm, and 3:30pm
Take a break from stretching your mind to stretch your body. No experience with yoga necessary. Mats provided. 20-minute sessions are led by Health Services Yoga Instructor Claire Van Hoorn in the Level 1 hallway along the south wall in Dimond Library.

Frenzy-Free Finals is brought to you by the UNH Library, Healthy UNH, GrandyOats, Stonyfield Farms, My Liege Salon & MetroSpa, UNH Health Services, UNH Dining Services, and the UNH Parents Association.

The Library’s semi annual cookie break took place today between 2 and 4 at Dimond and all four branch libraries. This tradition has become quite popular with students and this year it was extra special because Wild E. Cat stopped by Dimond Library to help us with our “Respect the Q” campaign (designed to identify and enforce quiet zones in the Library).

While the line for free cookies (homemade by Library faculty and staff and donated by the Parent’s Association) and coffee donated by Dining Services are long, when Sherry Vellucci, Dean of the University Library, told a student to be sure to have his picture taken with Wild E., he responded “does it get any better than this?!?”

Cookies get a thumbs-up.

Cookies get a thumbs-up.

Many thanks to the Parents Association, and the faculty and staff who baked cookies, brought in treats, set up, cleaned up, delivered cookies to the branch libraries, and did everything else to make the fall Cookie Break a success!

Enjoy some pictures from the Cookie Break in the Biological Sciences library.
