In time-honored library tradition, the UNH Library is offering a scavenger hunt in recognition of Geography Awareness Week. If you like maps and also like scavenger hunts, then you’ll love what we’re calling the UNH Library Geography Awareness Map Scavenger Hunt. There are prizes!
The list of scavenger hunt questions are available in the Map Room (Room 347 on Level 3, Dimond Library), the UNH Museum (Level 1, Dimond Library), and the Dimond Library Circulation Desk. All questions can be answered by visiting these places and using the Library Catalog and the Library’s online collection of maps.
Entries are due by Friday, November 13. Winners will be announced Tuesday, November 17.

*** Update ***: The Government Printing Office PURL server is back up, restoring access to online federal government documents.
From Linda Johnson, Government Information Librarian:
The Government Printing Office PURL server (persistent URLs) had a major collapse and is still being rebuilt so you will find that most links to Federal government documents are not working at this time. When the situation has been remedied I will let you know.
Persistent URLs provide a way to maintain a single address for a web page even if its location changes.
if you have questions or concerns, please contact Government Information.

The Government Information Department has been discussing with Loan including new documents in the New Book Room, and it has finally happened. You will find a rotating selection of some of the many topics that comprise government information. The documents have a New Book Room temporary catalog location just like the other materials in the room and can be checked out directly at the Loan Desk.
We will also continue to display additional new documents on the shelf outside the Data Center, though they obviously won’t say New Book Room if you look at their catalog records. And don’t forget our featured maps, usually related to some current event, located next to the shelf.
You may have noticed that Rob Wolff features some new (or newly discovered by us) online-only government information resources on the library home page — they usually debut on our own department home page as well.
The U.S. government is the world’s largest publisher, so there’s a good chance you’ll find something interesting and useful. As always, let us know if we can help you explore the sometimes arcane world of docs.
