Periodicals
A periodical is something published at a regular interval and organized under the same title. Periodicals include peer reviewed publications, magazines, newspapers, and similar items.

Borrowing Policies

Bound Periodicals circulate for 72 hours.

Current Periodicals circulate for 24 hours.

Popular Periodicals
Most recent issues located in binders do not circulate.
Older issues circulate for 24 hours.
There is a limit of 2 popular periodicals per patron.

PERIODICALS CANNOT BE RENEWED

Once a periodical is returned by a patron, they must wait at least 24 hours before checking out the same periodical.

Newspapers do not circulate. They may be signed away from the desk for up to 3 hours In-Library Use Only. There is a limit of 2 newspapers per patron.

Fines and Billing

Fines are $0.25 an hour per item up to a maximum Periodical fine of $5.00 for current issues and $25.00 for bound volumes. Items should be returned to the Periodicals Desk only. Items returned to other desks may be fined.

When an item becomes over 2 weeks overdue it will be billed for replacement. Replacement charges include the actual cost to the Library to replace these items, the cost of binding, and a clerical charge of $20 per item. These charges apply to all borrowers.

Fines should be paid to the Periodicals Desk in person or by mail by the tenth of the following month. After that date fines are transferred to the UNH Business Office in Stoke Hall, with an additional $5.00 clerical fee attached to the bill.
