Who can borrow
- USNH - If you are currently affiliated with USNH, you should have some form of USNH ID card. For Undergraduates, Graduates, Faculty, and Staff, this card is the standard USNH photo ID available from Holloway Commons, Room 101. It has a barcode built into it. Other types of cards include paper cards for DCE, CLL, and Non-status USNH employees. If you don't have a card and don't know what type you should have, please call the Loan Desk at 862-3125 for assistance.
- Oyster River student - If you are a student at the Oyster River School District you can get a library card by registering at the Loan Desk of the Dimond Library. Until we receive your parent's approval on the back of the registration card, you will have a two-book-limit and a temporary card. Employees of the Oyster River School District are also eligible for a free library card.
- Town resident - If you are a resident or summer resident of Durham, Lee, or Madbury you are entitled to a free UNH library card. You will need to bring proof of residence to the Loan Desk of Dimond Library and fill out a registration card. The proof of residence can be a current driver's license or a bill sent to your house.
- Alumni - If you graduated from UNH, DCE, CLL, Granite State College, Keene State College, Plymouth State College, Merrimack Valley College, you are entitled to a free UNH borrowing card. You will need to bring something with your current address on it (license or bill sent to you) to the Loan Desk of the Dimond Library. We will verify your graduation.
- New Hampshire resident - If you are over 18 years old and live in the "03---" zip code of NH or Southern Maine you can purchase a NH Resident card at the Loan Desk of Dimond Library for $60. The card is good for 12 months . You will need cash or a check made out to "UNH" and proof of residency when you fill out the registration card.
- Consortium - If you're currently a student, faculty, or staff at one of the following NH schools, you are entitled to borrow books from the Dimond Library. Your library card will be your ID card from your school. To register, please bring your ID and proof of address to the Loan Desk of Dimond Library. Schools included in the Consortium are:
- Chester College of New England
- College for Lifelong Learning (CLL)
- Colby Sawyer College
- Daniel Webster College
- Dartmouth College
- Franklin Pierce College
- Keene State College
- MA College of Pharmacy and
Health Sciences (in Manchester)
- New England College
- Plymouth State College
- Rivier College
- Southern New Hampshire University
- St. Anselm College
- Franklin Pierce Law Center
- New Hampshire Community Technical College (Laconia, Manchester,
Nashua, Stratham)
- New Hampshire Technical Institute
- New Hampshire Community Technical College (Berlin, Claremont)
Note: Schools listed in italics are treated as consortium but are not part of the consortium.
- Other borrowing categories -
- Immediate Family of UNH Faculty and Staff may register for a free
card.
- United States Forest Service staff may receive free privileges with
proper ID.
- New Hampshire State Employees may receive free privileges with proper
ID.
- Members of UNH summer programs may receive free privileges.
- Summer Residents of New Hampshire may qualify for a Summer Library

- Corporate Accounts (profit and non-profit) may borrow from the the UNH libraries for $250/year plus $15 for each library card issued.
