Recalling books
To ensure that everyone has a chance to access a book within a reasonable amount of time, all books checked-out are subject to recall. The minimum time you will have with a book is two weeks.
*
When someone recalls a book from you, we e-mail you a notice stating that the book has been recalled. Next to each item is the NEW DUE DATE for that item. There is NO GRACE PERIOD on this due date because someone is waiting for the book. The new due date is usually 10 days from the day we e-mail you the notice, so please be sure to regularly check your mail if you have books checked out. And be sure to notify the library if your address has changed.
If you fail to return the book before the new due date, your library privileges will be suspended and you will receive a $10.00 fine. As soon as the book is returned your privileges will be reinstated. This rule applies to ALL borrowers, and your cooperation with this important policy is greatly appreciated.
How to recall a book - If the book you would like is currently checked out to someone else, the status will show a due date instead of saying "AVAILABLE". If you would like to recall the book from the patron who has it, simply call the item up on the screen in our catalog and press the "request" button.
* You will then be asked to enter your SSN. Follow the instructions until you get the confirmation "Your request has been sent to the Library". You can contact the Loan Desk at 603 862-1535 if you have any questions regarding this procedure.
*Please note that books charged out to Virtual Catalog (BLC) patrons cannot be recalled.
