The UNH Library is a depository for U.S., Canadian, and New Hampshire government publications and receives some international materials. The Government Information Department deals with Federal, Canadian, and international information and serves both the UNH community and the general public.
For assistance with access to government documents, maps, and geospatial or numeric data
contact Government Information staff on the
Main Level. The non-circulating Government Documents Reference Collection is also located on the
Main Level.
New Hampshire State documents are located in
Special Collections and Archives on
Level 1.
Documents include a wide variety of materials in such areas as agriculture, climate, crime, the economy, the environment, government, education, legislation, health, international relations, labor, population, regulations, space, trade, wildlife, and much more.
Map Collection
Located on the
Main Level and part of the
Government Information Department, the non-circulating map collection has more than 55,000 USGS topographic maps, nautical charts, and other map series including CD-ROM, DVD, and Internet versions. Color printing for the public is available on the Map Room computer. Patrons can schedule consultations for assistance with air photos and with digital maps and datasets. Historic maps are available in the department's
digital collections.
Data Center
The
Data Center is next to the
IT Support Center and the entrance to the Government Information Department on the
Main Level.
Two public terminals provide access to U.S. government resources and to some specialized statistical databases. Documents staff assist with locating data sources. Some of the Library’s Data Services are only available to the UNH community.
In addition, there are
Student Computing Cluster PCs maintained by
Computing & Information Services (CIS).
Government Information Collection
The circulating collection of paper U.S. documents is located on
Level 1. DVDs and CD-ROMs are available by request from Documents staff. Videos are found in Multimedia on
Level 2. These documents can be borrowed like regular books by anyone with a UNH library card. Documents in microfiche format are found in Microforms on level two and may be viewed there. Increasingly, government information is found online and links for many electronic government resources are found in the library online catalog.
All members of the public may use these materials in the Library.
