More about Loan Periods for Non-Audiovisual Materials

Loan periods are established by the lending library. In general, loan periods range from two to six weeks. All interlibrary loan items must by returned by the due date. Interlibrary loan items may be recalled by the lending library. Some lending libraries may require "in library use only" of their materials.

I Still Need It. How Do I Renew Materials?

Most interlibrary loan items can be renewed; however, the interlibrary loan label on the item may indicate that renewals are not possible. Provided the label allows renewal, you may renew through your ILLiad account by placing your request one day to ten days after the due date. If the renewal request is denied by the lending library you will be notified.

What if I Forget to Return Something?

Please return interlibrary loan materials to the Dimond Library Reference Desk or Interlibrary Loan Office by the date marked on their interlibrary loan labels, or, if the lending library permits, you may submit a request for a renewal through your ILLiad account. (see above)

Please be aware that turning in interlibrary loan materials late can jeopardize UNH’s relationship with other libraries and affect interlibrary loan services for everyone.

When materials are overdue you will receive up to three notices through ILLiad: 1st a reminder that your item is overdue, 2nd a warning that your item is overdue and if not returned your account will be blocked, 3rd a notice that the item is still overdue and your account has been blocked. At this point you will be billed and your interlibrary loan privileges will be suspended until we receive the item back. You might also have other library privileges suspended.
