The New Hampshire Authors' Series
From the Dimond Library at the University of New Hampshire

The most recent event... Tomie dePaola and Rebecca Rule!

More than 300 Friends of the UNH Library, community members and students of all ages laughed and applauded spontaneously the afternoon of January 28th during the wonderful interview with children's author and illustrator, Tomie dePaola. Rebecca Rule, in her typical yankee humor fashion put the interviewee and audience at ease and in the style of Inside the Actors' Studio, asked Tomie questions and encouraged him to read from his work. Young and old alike enjoy Tomie's books and illustrations (of course, there are 267 books published to choose from) and were enthralled to hear him read from his work and share his stories.

The interview was followed by a question and answer session with the audience and after the program both writers mingled with the crowd -- everyone enjoyed refreshments and a chance to talk with the authors.

This special event was taped before the live audience and will be broadcast on New Hampshire Public Television, Monday, February 26 at 8:00 p.m. The program will also be delivered through streaming video to K-12 schools throughout the state of New Hampshire .

The Authors' Series at Dimond Library (held three times per year), is a one-on-one conversation with an author who in some way has ties to New Hampshire. Thanks to all the Board Members of the Friends of the UNH Library who contribute to the program's success, especially Doug Wheeler for the initial idea and Tom Osenton for his vision, expertise and hard work in making the program a reality.
