Who Are the Friends?
The Friends of the UNH Library is a non-profit, volunteer organization
whose members take a strong interest in promoting and supporting the activities
of the University Library. All are welcome to join!
Friends Make a Difference
As the University of New Hampshire’s reputation as a major research center
has grown, so has that of the library. Our admission to the elite Boston Library Consortium, a cooperative
association of 18 academic and research libraries that share resources, is
proof. The Friends play a major role in developing the University’s research
collections: from donating early New Hampshire imprints to acquiring the
manuscripts of Pulitzer Prize-winning poets. We have acquired online databases,
technology resources, rare books and archival matierals
that ensure that the UNH Library meets the ever-changing needs of the
community.
The Friends also sponsor programs throughout the year to promote the cultural and intellectual richness of the University and the community. From the New Hampshire Authors' Series to documentary film screenings to Poet Laureate receptions, Friends programs help friends to get acquainted and share their interests while emphasizing the development of the Milne Special Collections.
If you're interested in more information or, would like to join the Friends, please contact Tracey Lauder at 603-862-3041.
