collection development

Our Purpose

The Collection Development Department — in conjunction with UNH faculty and other members of the university community — determines which books, periodicals, videos, microforms, and electronic materials (including indexes and databases) will be acquired by the Library and from which funds. Orders are then submitted to the acquisitions unit where they are processed.

The Collection Development Department also determines the suitability of gifts for the collection.

Other related functions include providing information on the collections, formulating general collection development policies, overseeing the library materials budget, working with accreditation teams, managing the approval plan, and providing assistance to new faculty and programs.

Location

We are currently located on Level 3 (Main Level) of Dimond Library in a non-public area. If you wish to meet with us, please ask at the Circulation Desk or make an appointment with us via email or phone.

If you wish to review approval books, the approval books are held on the Level 1 in Dimond Library in Room 133 in the Acquisitions Unit of the Technical Services Department.
