Online Resources for Mathematics & Statistics
There are many great mathematical information resources online. This list has just a small selection of major sites; please check the "Everything" sites (last on this list) if you do not find what you are looking for at first.
Some linked material is accessible only by subscription. If you are at the University of New Hampshire, and have questions about access to this material, please see the contact information at the end of this page.
Indexes and Abstracts:
- MathSciNet -- Produced by the American Mathematical Society, this resource covers the literature of pure and applied mathematics from 1940 to present: conference proceedings, books, and almost 1800 journals are currently indexed and reviewed. Includes Mathematical Reviews and Current Mathematical Publications. UNH only.
- Current Statistical Index (CIS) -- this index to the research literature of statistics covers 1974 to the present; it is a joint venture of the American Statistical Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics.
- Zentralblatt MATH -- UNH no longer subscribes to this major abstracting and reviewing service, but the ZMATH interface permits free searching and will display three hits for each search. The journal database on the home page is essential for deciphering abbreviations of European journals.
Online Journals & Articles (Freely Accessible and Subscription-based):
- arXiv -- Front end for the Mathematics portion of ArXiv (e-prints and pre-prints) from UC Davis and Cornell
- CiteSeer -- also known as ResearchIndex, this offers searching and links to computer science research articles posted on the Web. It also indexes citations from those articles. It was originally developed by staff at the NEC Research Institute.
- Directory of Mathematics Preprint and e-Print Servers -- from the American Mathematical Society
- HAL (Hyper Article on Line) -- Multidisciplinary article server under the auspices of the CCSD (Centre pour la Communication Scientifique Directe, France)
- JSTOR -- this fully-searchable journal archive offers access to dozens of mathematics, statistics, and general science journals back to their beginnings
- NUMDAM -- "Digitization of ancient mathematics documents" (not all so ancient!) includes online archives of major French mathematical journals

Online Books (Freely Accessible and Subscription-based):
- AMS Books Online, provided by the American Mathematical Society
- Mathematics Books Online, list compiled by the American Mathematical Society; includes some lists of journals/articles as well
- TEL (thèses-EN-ligne) -- Multidisciplinary thesis server from the CCSD (Centre pour la Communication Scientifique Directe, France)
