Finding and using library resources
I. How to find and use the article databases:
Web of Science (Science Citation Index) demo
--General & cited reference searching
Harte, J. (2002); Harte, J. et al. (1999)
--from Harte '99 cite: "Holdings" button and online journal access
(use Highwire or JSTOR for most of Science magazine)
Look at searching tips: yellow sheet with database comparisons and last page of green sheets, which has Boolean examples.
Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management
-- includes some primarily aquatic databases: Water Resources Abstracts, ASFA,
--general databases include aquatic environments
-- keyword searching: slow sand filt* compare with slow AND sand AND filt*
--advanced keyword searching:
watershed AND "water removal"
Others: Database List by title, topic (ex., biology), and type
II. How to locate books and journals:

1. Subjects vs. keywords
Noun as a subject or keyword:

Proper name as a subject or keyword:

Subject with modifier:

Keyword search:
--lamprey and (river or watershed)
2. Author search
